Currently my favorite addon is a little bird called SavedInstances.  If you’ve got a lot of characters, it can be difficult to remember who’s killed Nalak, who’s looted their treasure key, who’s done their transmutes, etc.  This app tracks a myriad of useful daily and weekly lock outs in an elegant fashion.  This has saved me a lot of pointless character switches which means more time to dance on the mailbox.

I know he’s a Lowbie but, back in the day, this guy was the bain of my dungeon existence. The combination of being under-geared, new to the game, and learning to heal had me dead so often it just wasn’t fun. As a self-confessed Altiholic and a fan of dungeon leveling, I have spent excessive amounts of time in Shadowfang. I recently ran it on a new girl, in full Heirlooms (!), and I’m not sure if I’ve changed so much, or if they Nerfed him, but we had him down in minutes. Man it felt good!!

G’day Lads,

DAMN YOU, I CAN’T JUST PICK ONE!!!

Like most things in wow, I have favourite things for different reasons. There’s been some great times had in several of the BC dungeons as part of the Kara attunement, grinding sporregar rep and ‘erbing in Slave Pens and Underbog was always fun, and I loved the look of the Netherstorm dungeons. But I’m going to choose Opening the Dark Portal as my favourite. This dungeon was different than most; once you started the event , it was do-or-die. This made for an exhilarating and adrenaline filled time, beta cause no one wants to start over again!  The tank would often dash off to the next portal while dps finished off the current one, leaving the healer (me) to decide who gets heals, or sometimes to even go pickup some mob that had gotten through and was beating down the shield. Good times indeed!

We’re looking to make further Pet Battles adjustments in a future patch (potentially 5.4), and your valuable feedback is needed!

Currently, in an Elemental vs. Mechanical matchup, Elementals gain both an attack bonus versus Mechanicals as well as a defensive bonus against Mechanical abilities. In order to help even the playing field a bit, we were mulling over some potential changes to damage types, and the families they would be weak against.

Here are some initial ideas that are being kicked around:

Mechanical abilities would deal less damage versus Critter (instead of Elemental)

Elemental abilities would deal less damage versus Dragonkin (instead of Critter)

Flying abilities would deal less damage versus Elemental (instead of Dragonkin)

And here is a second set of ideas we’re considering:

Undead abilities would deal less damage versus Elemental (instead of Aquatic)

Mechanical abilities would deal less damage versus Aquatic (instead of Elemental)

There’s been so many proud moments in this awesome game that it’s hard to pick a favourite. Getting down bosses like the Lich King after much hard work is certainly up there. So is hitting personal goals in gold making (5000g in vanilla from selling scopes!).

My runner up moment would have to be hitting level 70 on Ashayo – my first max level toon in the new and growing wonderful AIE guild. But nothing beats your first, and getting my first toon to 60 would have to be my proudest moment. It was a Night Elf Hunter (of course!) and apon dinging I spent the evening in Iron Forge shouting everyone stout dwarven ale and dancing with guild mates. I don’t think I even knew what raiding was at that point, so to me it seemed like I’d beat the game ; this was the ultimate achievement and goal. Sadly, now I know differently!

Hey guys,

After listening to the last show, I wanted to explain why Mardge the mage is lazy and has no professions at her advanced level.

Mardge started life as a level booster for my warlock, Shirlea, when I was RAF dual boxing. She spent most fights sitting on her mount on /follow while Shirlea and her voidwalker fought all the mobs. I originally planned to delete Mardge, actually, but by the time I was done dual boxing, I had become a little attached to her. So instead of committing alticide, I moved her to Earthen Ring to be part of the Bitter and Salty guild. She has reformed her lazy ways, and she does do questing on her own now.

Also, my favorite outfit to wear while I play is… pajama pants and a t-shirt.

Happy 5.3!

I said in my plea for help that I would send a tweet with my week 10 answer, but then people would see it, and it would be, like: SPOILER! So email it is.

My favorite mount? Before Christmas, I would have said my Onyx Netherdrake – cause it’s cool and hot and classy, but my answers changed after Christmas.

Ground mount: Ruby Panther (I know it isn’t technically a ground mount, because it can fly, but it looks stupid when it flies, so I try to only use it for ground. Jeppy gave me this for Christmas, and I love it!

Flying mount: My Blazing Hippogryph. I saw this on the Trading Card game loot site, and put it on my wishlist JUST IN CASE. Although my family never gets me anything from my wishlist. Anyway, to my surprise, my cats (with the help of Mr. Strumpet) gave it to me for Christmas last year. I LOVE it!!!

Hey guys, it’s Grimm checking in to tell you about my favorite mount in WoW. I’d have to say that my favorite is the Frostwolf, partly because I’ve always liked wolves and love the look of the white wolf in particular, and in game find them to be one of the few mounts that Tauren look decent on, and partly because I worked so hard to get it. You see, back in my day, to get a Frostwolf mount you had to run an insane amount of Alterac Valley to earn the tokens to buy it. I don’t remember the exact amount, but I spent the better part of a month doing nothing but chain running AV just to get this mount. But to me it was worth it, and it continues to be one of about 3 land mounts that I still use out of the dozens I have collected.

While most of the time I enjoy the comfort and safety of PvE realms for questing, there is a certain thrill and excitement that I sometimes miss from my days on PvP realms. I know I could flag myself as pvp, but it’s not quite the same and doesn’t produce the same effect. Alot of good times have been had in reaction to guildies getting ganked – the escalating responses from both sides can be a ton of fun. While the same thing can be done in a more organised fashion as seen in Nagrand’s Halaa, it’s not quite as epic.

So strangely, I mostly prefer and play PvE, but find myself arguing the benefits of PvP. Go figure.

It’s scientifically proven that taller people are far superior to their height-challenged cousins.
A recent study found the IQ of alliance players to be a full 3 feet lower than their Horde counterparts.
Lastly, when it comes to the crunch, alliance players tend to pull up short.

Week 7: Favorite Piece of Lore

My favorite piece of lore has to be the introduction to Culling of Stratholme. I think this is a turning point for Arthas’s character from thinking and feeling the evil brewing inside him to bringing it to fruition.  Seeing the change in dynamic where Jana Proudmoor essentially abandons Arthas to his whims introduces a whole new element to the relationships within the alliance.

Week 8: PVP, PVE, RP

I grew up on Eredar, I dont mind PVP, i just hate senseless ganking.  Nothing is more infuriating than trying to level your toon with a max level jerk camping you for an hour(or 4).  I moved away from Eredar because it was just killing my enjoyment of the game.  BG’s are OK, but can get a bit static and boring after a while.  My true love is lore, questing, and raiding.  I would rather spend 10 hours in queue for a raid than actively doing BGa.  As far as RP goes, as a person who frequents Ren Faires, I love me some RP, but its more for fun than anything else, and I dont think I could live on an RP server.  (Although I’ve been thinking about making some Horde on Earthen Ring)

I had a really hard time trying to think about my favorite lore in Warcraft, but what I started noticing was that I kept going back to different stories surrounding the Forsaken. So I guess my favorite lore is all the lore surrounding the Forsaken. How they broke away from the Scourge. How they have made a home where they once lived when alive, and you find them referencing their old lives from time to time in quests. How the Light pains them terribly, so any Forsaken priest feels pain when casting holy magic, or any Forsaken warrior is basically having their wounds cauterized during battle. The whole thing with Lillian Voss being a member of the Scarlet Crusade in life, hunting undead, and then becoming one and being hunted by the people she called friends and family herself. All that stuff I find really thought provoking and interesting.
As far as servers, I can’t stand the idea of trying to level while getting ganked. To me that would make the game unplayable. I am a PvE player all the way. I don’t RP, but to me an RP server is interchangeable with a PvE server. So I’m on an RP server, but I pretty much just shrug my shoulders about what that really means.
Horde or Alliance? I’m a life-long Horde player, and will likely stay that way. I wouldn’t mind seeing the quests on the Alliance side, but my time to play makes that unlikely, and I’m fine with that. I will say that I haven’t liked where the Horde has gone under Garrosh, but I’m stoked to knock him off the throne and see where the Horde goes from there.

I know I’m late for this weeks show but I’m sending my favorite piece of lore anyway so…  My favorite piece of lore isn’t 1 piece per se, it’s all of the books that you find throughout the game. I love when you find one that’s written by some major NPC and you get a glimpse of their life at that time. It’s pretty cool. Honorary mention goes to the coins you fish up in the fountain in Dal. They’re pretty awesome too.

My week 8 of 30 weeks of WoW answer is PvE, but I’d love to learn how to RP. I hate hate hate PvP, even as a DK I get my butt handed to me no matter what BG I’m in. It gets frustrating waiting to rez when you know you’ll be back in a minute or two. >.< grrr!

My favorite playstyle continues to be PvE with some RP thrown in when it fits and happens organically. One of my lowbie pandas was finishing some quests near Ratchet and ran into the inn for a quest turn in. The quest had something to do with Garrosh and I happened to be in a mood about him and made some cutting comments about the illustrious Warchief in spatial chat. Almost immediately, I received a whisper warning me he had ears everywhere and that I should be careful talking like that. Turns out there was a group sitting at the tables in the inn and they invited me over so we could trash Garrosh and look forward to his hopefully imminent demise. I sat there with them for about a half hour, drinking with them, answering questions about Pandaria and “translating their fortune cookies.” That began when I passed along one of Koltrane’s fortune cookies from the Convert To Raid podcast and eventually I had a bunch of websites open that were filled with fortunes and was cobbling together fortunes for them on the fly. Some were hits, some flamed out but it was a ton of fun doing this stuff off-the-cuff. We eventually went our own ways and I later discovered they were regular RPers just meeting out there to do a nightly meetup and included me, thinking I was another regular RPing friend of theirs that liked to show up as different characters.

From the sounds of what I just told you, it seems RP should be my preferred style but I’ve found the fun of it really disappears quickly if I try to make it happen.

When I started playing WoW like most people I started due to some friends recruiting me into the game. So that I wasn’t alone I joined the server that they were on, US Thunderlord, a PvP server. Being new to the game I didn’t know the difference as far as an experience so I went with it. Lucky they were all at level cap (Wrath) so if I needed help they would help me out. This created some challenges when leveling but some epic memories. Running to Scarlet Monastery from Southshore as an alliance toon to get my gear around level 30. The whole shouthshore experience and the PvP element that it had naturally. Just being ganked and ganked and going into general / trade asking for help.

Once hearing about the CTR guild on Aerie Peak I moved a character over there to a PvE server. It works out much better for leveling as I was never good at PvP and I still have the option to PvP. I still feel it’s missing a little something. Maybe that’s due to other elements like CRZ, Not really having to fight over a summoning stone outside on an dungeon or a bit of the quality of life additions have taken away from the experience since I first leveled. As much as I hated the waste of time of being killed and killed during questing I still feel PvP adds a huge element of Alliance vs Horde. The problem is, most servers are heavily Alliance or Horde, not really to many 50/50 servers.

Now I’ve been leveling with the Bitter and Salty guild, Earthen Ring RP server. So far I really haven’t had much interaction with others outside of the guild. I haven’t been in a capital city for a long period of time to be around trade / general chat. When leveling and seeing others in the same zone as me, I have gone out of my way to /wave to them. Overall the guild chat has been the biggest effect on my leveling. Just having that social aspect that you don’t get in a guild with 4000 players.

So my answer would be, no matter PvP, PvE or RP as long as you are around others who you interact with, stay there. I personally do like the PvP element but I’m very happy on Earthen Ring.

Mildrid/Batibat – Earthern Ring (US)

I’ve spent most of my WoW career on a PvP server, and have gotten somewhat accustomed to the paranoia, but at the same time I’ve been long frustrated with Blizzard’s attitude that it’s perfectly accepted for max level players to maurade around and one shot defeneseless leveling toons with no repercussion.  Personally I dont think a player more than 5 levels below you should be attackable at all unless they engage in specific behavior to flag them such as invading capitol territory, capturing a resource, etc.   It’s a terrible system that encourages miscreant behavior. Rarely does low level ganking culminate in full blown open warfare in the fields that proponents seem to offer as a defense for allowing this.  The population does not police itself like it may have in previous expansions and in the pre Cross Realm environment.   I’ve kind of had enough of it, and at the same time I started covertly playing WoW more at work(!) where I can’t devote my full attention to whether I’m safe at the end of a flight path, so I recently followed the podcasts to Earthen Ring PvE/RP for the lower stress experience.

On another topic, I found another source of Herald calibre gear that isn’t as obvious as the justice point vendors.  While at first it may seem that all the PVP vendors in Dalaran peddle gear too high a level to be suitable, if you take a flight over to the WINTERGRASP vendors you will find an assortment of interesting trinkets, rings, and some other gear in the 213-226 range that can be purchased for a couple hundred honor points.  I got a +95 int lvl 213 trinket and a lvl 226 int/haste ring.  They aren’t perfect itemization, but they are better than most available gear if you are having trouble getting drops from ICC normals or getting run through raids.

Favorite piece of lore:

As someone who generally gravitates to warlocks, my favorite lore has to be the demonology and the Burning Legion.  The Warlock green fire questline in particular is fantastic from a lore perspective.  Here’s to the hope we’ll get more insight into BL strongholds like Xoroth and Argas in an upcoming expansion.  The similiar Lovecraftian horror of the Old Gods certainly vies for my intrigue as well. but demons are where its at.

Haven’t heard much about the Herald of the Titans project on the last couple podcasts, but earlier episodes got me intrigued enough to start up a new warlock Batibat on Earthern Ring and race to 80.  Got there this week, turned off XP, and started to dutifully work on optimizing my gear for the required ilevel.  OMG queuing up for Wrath normals and heroics that drop the ilevel 219 gear is frustrating, for DPS you are looking at queue in the 90min – 2 hr mark for something like Forge of Souls or Pit of Saron, I imagine its not so bad for a healer.  Getting high levels to run you through will be less painful, so I hope B&S adds some calendar events for this.  I did luck out and talk my way into an Ulduar 25 run already and scored 226 head, legs, feet and a 232 sword, on top of the 219 neck, wrist, and gloves I’d picked up already I think I’m doing pretty good in one week and proof that it doesn’t necessarily take a prolonged gearing up grind to get where you need to be.

Hi Guys,

I’ve been out of Wow for a while now but really enjoy listening to your podcast. I have a few toon’s my mains are Fooch (Druid 85) in AIE and Dewy (Shaman 85) on Kargath. Thanks to listening to you guys it has inspired me to try and get backing into the game while also balancing all my RL responsibilities. I’ve been playing since release and used to be a 40 man raider in vanilla but since lost all the folks i used to play with and the fun i would have with all my RL friends. I’m hoping to get back into things and meet some new folks and have that kind of fun again and you gents are really inspiring me to give it a go. I’m only on episode 4 right now but the episodes so far I have listened to have been awesome!! Just listening to you guys talk about how your playing the game casually and not raiding (at least not yet has been reminding me of the days when i played and enjoyed myself like you guys are doing. I just wanted to say thanks very much for the work you gents do on the podcast and it’s an absolute pleasure to listen to all the episodes. I can’t wait to get caught up to the present day episodes and get back in the game.

Hey guys, it’s Grimm with another double submission for the 30 weeks of WoW segment. These questions both gave me a lot of trouble, one because there were too many good choices, the other because there were too few.

My favorite Vanilla dungeon is a tough one, because I don’t particularly like any of them. They were all so long and punishing if you failed, I had a hard time getting excited to ever do them. I suppose if I have to pick one, I’ll go with Scarlet Monastery, mostly because I love the run up to it in Tirisfal Glade. The long winding path lined with decaying trees with the Scarlet Crusade’s victims hanging from the branches was so eerie, and being a low level in a world of elites at the time, I found the whole thing pretty daunting. I also liked the environment of the Monastery itself. I enjoyed the different feel of each wing, and really loved the hidden room with High Inquisitor Fairbanks. I also remember longing to know someone with the Corrupted Ashbringer, so that I could see the way the dungeon supposedly changed for a player who carried it. I thought that had to be one of the coolest Easter eggs in the game.

My favorite quest chain, on the other hand, is nearly impossible to choose. Wrathgate and Quel’Delar are both awesome, as are many of the quest chains in Icecrown. But for pure nostalgia’s sake, I can’t not cheat a little and give a tie to the original questline in Eastern Plaguelands with Tirion Fordring, and the original chain to protect Pamela Redpath in Darrowshire, also in Eastern Plaguelands. I think I love the Tirion chain because as a Horde player it was really the first time that I had participated in a long chain with a big story payoff at the end, when (spoiler) you save Tirion’s son from his brainwashing at the hands of the Scarlet Crusade, only to have him killed in battle on the way out. I think it also stuck with me because when I did it, I had just finished the Chris Metzen short story about Tirion and felt for him being exiled from his family, and never really getting another chance to be a father and husband to them. And Darrowshire just felt epic to me because it reminded me of Seven Samurai, in that you have a very small force trying to defend a village from a huge invading force. Plus you are doing all this to protect the spirits of the town, and correct a past wrong, which was a cool twist I hadn’t encountered before that.

Hey  Molsan and Sláinte,

For this week’s question “What is your favourite quest chain?” I immediately thought of 3 quest chains. The first one is the Greatmother Geyah quest chain in Nagrand. I think this is the single longest quest chain the game with all the quests you have to do to start it and finish it. This is my favourite one in the game, so long, epic, and lore-packed. Second: The Wrathgate; simply one of the most epic quest chains in the game. Third: the quest chain in Icecrown with the quest called “The Hunter and Prince”. In this one you get to take control of Arthas and fight Illidan! It was  one of the most fun quests I’ve done in the game to date.

Kanzaki, ER, here and loved that Onyxia fight. 1-shot on my shadow priest. Brings back some memories.

For the 30 weeks of WoW, I’d like to combine question 4 and question 6. I loved Stormpeaks and the Sons of Hodir quest line. More specifically, the Thrusting the Spear quest of soloing  drake while fighting in his mouth. I also enjoyed jumping from drake to drake around thorim and finishing one of the greatest old achievement for a priest, Who needs a Knuckle Sandwich, because priests need to cap their unarmed weapon skills.

Keep it up and always look forward to the next episode.

Favourite Questline. There’s been so many, I bet I’m forgetting some great ones!

I actually really enjoyed the majority of the attunement quest lines. They were long, required effort, and had a rewarding goal that wasn’t just a bit of loot that you’ll replace tomorrow.

The oldest one I recall is the Onyxia attunement (alliance side!) Helping many (many) folks with the Blackrock Depths prison run!

Karazahn attunement is an obvious favourite – very epic, plus it brought out the best in guildies helping each other.

But the quest line that I remember most fondly that is “just” a quest line would have to be the Linken quest in Un’goro. That kind of chain that takes you all over Azeroth, and spans many levels (if you start it at level) was a ton of fun and very rewarding. I still have Linken’s Boomerang on most toons – I remember when it was one of the few ways a pally had a ranged pull ability!

So I have two favorites, one is Amberseeds!  I knew I never should have touched that damn thing.  The second one is all of the quests leading up to the destruction of the jade serpent statue in Jade Forest.  I loved learning and reading all of the pandaria lore, and I enjoyed the whole questline where you are revealing the 3 prophecies on the wall as you complete each quest series.

Hi guys,

I will try and keep this short but apologize if it’s not (I get verbose when typing).  I love the podcast!  You guys are the first thing I listen to in the morning and typically the last at the end of the evening.  I’m working on getting caught up on all episodes.

My main is Tazilhoff a level 90 gnome mage on Frostwolf but I’m in the process of leveling up Lowpand a pandaren warrior and Lizat a blood elf paladin on Mal’Ganis.

First things first to get caught up on the last 5 weeks of WoW and add my 6th:

1. My first character was Tazil the gnome mage.  I started playing in BC and I still have him to this day.  He’s my first and only 90 at this point.  Unfortunately I did lose the name Tazil when I realm transferred so he now goes by Tazilhoff.

2. My favorite raid is hard to come up with since the very first raid I’ve ever done was Mogu’shan Vaults.  Which was…well a little underwhelming.  I think that’s because it was using LFR and not with a group of people going the whole route.  The dragon was a fun fight though.

3. I’ve never been able to get excited about Shamans.  Not sure what it is.

4. I really liked the Hellfire Peninsula zone.  It was very epic at the time with the transition through the gate and the big war that was going on.  The sense of scale there was great.

5. My favorite vanilla dungeon would be Zul’Farrak.  That fight on the stairs of the temple was a blast!

6. I liked the quests with Tarenar Sunstrike and Gidwin Goldbraids in the Eastern Plaguelands. The friendship between the two from different factions was a lot of fun and very touching.  ”The Paladin Palls” was a good touch.

Last but not least!  I was in Warsong Gulch with my warlock and trying to capture the flag.  I was about five steps away from the flag when I was killed.  But!  I was able to use my soulstone to come back, grab the flag, and capture it for my side!  I thought that was pretty epic.

So my favorite classic dungeon is Dead Mines… ORIGINAL deadmines. I hate the new re-work of deadmines because the story is completely different and kinda boring. It was the first dungeon I’ve ever done in any MMO. It made me LOVE dungeons, and want to do every one of them. It was also my real first interaction with other players in WoW.

Hope you guys are having a great day and a great show. So week 5′s topic of my favourite classic dungeon was a bit of a difficult one for me. I had to take a bit and remember back to my classic days and all the times I ran every one of those dungeons to figure out which held the best memories for me. I narrowed it down to two: Maraudon and Dire Maul, and of those two I’d have to say that, while Dire Maul is awesome in it’s own right, Maraudon is my favourite.

It’s so large, which was awesome at the time I remember; it was like an epic adventure going through that place, especially on your first time through. More importantly, I think it’s one of the most beautiful dungeons in the game. It’s awesome how you go through different “zones” in it, huge waterfalls, moss-covered rock vistas, large pools of water, and crystals of many colours. Just awesome

Another great spot to farm Embersilk is Tol Barad Pennisula on the Restless Front, very low health mobs fighting each other which drop a ton of cloth for a tailor. By the time you pull several packs and AOE them down they will respawn. These guys are higher level than Deepholm so have better drops. Popping a treasure finding potion helps as you’ll get a worthwhile amount of bonuses that contain tons of cloth, and increased green drops that you need for the enchanting mats for bags.

Vendor Buying – This feature changes the split stack window that shows up when you shift-right-click on an item in a vendor pane to allow buying more than one stacks worth at a time of the item. For example, since [Light Parchment] stacks in quantities of 100, you usually can’t buy more than 100 at a time. With this feature, you could shift-right-click and type in 501 and it’ll buy 5 stacks of 100 and 1 stack of 1 automatically when you hit enter (or click ‘Okay’).

Auction Sales – This replaces the “A buyer has been found for your auction of ___” text with something a bit more useful. So my favorite zone has to be Ice Crown.  It was the first zone to use phasing, and I loved the idea of changing and developing the zone.  I love the argent tournament, and the dailies for ebon blade and the skybreaker, were always fun and humorous. I also love the feel of the zone, the music, the ambiance, and everything else about the zone.

So…favorite zone: I love Nagrand. Tons of big animals, lots of wide open spaces, blue skies and grass! I live in North Dakota so in some way, maybe it just feels like home (except for the mountains ). It’s also possible I remember it fondly since it follows on the heels of some pretty dreary zones but to this day, I still like dropping into Nagrand to mine, pick herbs or hunt some big beasties.

If you have the time, I’d like to toss in a Week 1 – First Character response, too.

I started playing on release day and despite a little exposure to the beta, didn’t really pick up on class/spec roles in the world. That resulted in me thinking it would just be cool to play a Holy Paladin and created my human male Holy Pally, Liro and leveled him to 60…without healing anyone else expect for the occasional guildee. Sure, it took forever to drop most mobs and I leveled pretty slowly because of it, but I was very hard to kill. Liro never met the Spirit Healer until sometime in his mid-to-late 50′s. Sadly, old Liro languishes in Shatrath at lvl 63. I keep meaning to resurrect him, but now, I’m For The Horde!® and having too much fun with my panda monk, Rubmahbelleh (Rub Mah Belleh always said in a guttural voice! )

Least favorite class:

It’s hard for me to say I have a least favorite class, because I pretty much exclusively play a feral druid. I can say that I have had the least interest in playing a warrior. I’m not really sure why that is, but for some reason all the other classes seem to have some quality or gimmick to them that sounds cool or interesting. The warrior just seems like a guy that swings a sword and nothing else. Just does very little to capture any excitement in me. I also suck at my DK.

Favorite zone in WoW:

I think that’s the right question. Didn’t see it in the show notes or on Twitter. My favorite zone is what I imagine will be a common answer: Nagrand. I know it’s cliche, but I just love the colors and almost whimsical nature of that zone. The floating islands with waterfalls coming from no where. The colors of the planets in the sky. The round trees and buildings give everything a soft, comfortable feeling. Hell, just sitting next to Thrall’s grandmother makes me feel all peaceful. Every time I go back after being away for awhile I always just find myself looking at the sky and marveling at how pretty it is.

Hey Molsan and Sláinte, Before Burning Crusade came out, my favourite zone in WoW was Mulgore. It was so serene, beautiful, and open; I loved it (I still do). It was the first zone I quested in when I switched to Horde side and I fell in love with it. Then BC came along, and so did Nagrand. It easily became my favourite zone the second I stepped into it, and has continued to be my favourite zone to this day. It’s like a better version of Mulgore in my mind, and I love it.  Waterfalls, green everywhere, lakes, floating islands, what’s not to love? Hope you guys have a great show

Dislike Mage—-never leveled over 10.  Did play a buddies mage (60) for a few days and when farming in Silithus I couldn’t stay alive.  Frost bolt, mob hits me, I die.  Sigh!

Week 4 (Zone)

My favorite Zone is….STV!!!  Loved the quest lines, the PVP aspects (before flying mounts), and the Arena set up they had where the chest pops every 3 hours and it was an all-out fight.

It was a call from a good friend of mine that said “hey, me and the fellas are gonna run to the store at midnight and get World of Warcraft, you coming?”  I replied, “I don’t know what the hell that is but sure”.  I got the details in the car and I was told that I should be a tank because that is the easiest class to play.  I was very new to games on the PC as he let me barrow his game Horizon and I just walked around and dug stuff up.

I got home and loaded the 4 discs and a couple hours later I’m in!  I call my friend and say, “why the hell are we making alliance because the Horde look sweet”.  I didn’t win that argument so my first toon was a Male NE Warrior spec’d as a meat shield!  His name was Zofideous and holy hell did I spend waaaaaaaay to long in Darnasus getting lost in the caves.  There is nothing like spending 2 hours trying to get out of a cave, die inside, and then have to try and get back to recover your body.  After 5 server changes, a name change, and a haircut he’s now 70 and inactive.

Week 2

Favorite Raid!  Truly I only ever raided MC, BWL, and ONY-(if that counts) on a consistent basis and boy did we spend hours upon hours in MC.  My favorite out of the 3 was MC.  We had 2 tanks for MC (40), I was one and had zero clue what I was doing except saunder…saunder…saunder…taunt (repeat)!  The two giants at the beginning had my heart racing the first couple of times in and you better not pull that extra fire lord dammit or you’ll wipe us!  The teamwork that was needed for most of these fights was spectacular in my noob eyes.

There is this good feeling to have been around when Leroy Jenkins came out and the guy from the Ony fight…WHELPS…LEFT SIDE!

Oh, and for favorite raids, Ulduar. Love the challenge, the bosses, and Tier 8 Priest gear!

My least favorite class to play would probably have to be the hunter. Now before I have a bunch of present day hunters jump on me, my first toon ever was a hunter. I started her at the end of BC and had her to level 80 not long after Wrath came out. I just didn’t feel challenged enough and thought either I need to make another class, or I’m going to stop playing this game. I ended up making my priest, Medi and deleting my hunter. I tried to bring her back for Cataclysm and got her to 85, but so many things had changed (I mean really, they took away my precious Volley!) and I still could not get back into that hunter.

Hey guys, hope everything is going great for you all. Here’s my submission for week number 3′s question:

Before I had a one of each class I suppose I had least favourites, but this was simply because I had not tried said class at all, and only had what I heard about them to go on. The ones that sticks out the most for me I suppose would be the warrior and rogue. I never touched either of these classes until Cataclysm actually. Simply because I either never got around to it or had heard bad things about them. But, as we all know, Cata gave us all kinds of time to pursue alts and the like, so I took advantage of it and became an altoholic I tried out the warrior and rogue and I fell in love with them, much the same as I had with every other class.

My favourite raid would have to be Karazhan!

Part of it was the mechanics – they were interesting, new, and challenging.

Part of it was, strangely enough, the effort you had to go through to actually get attuned. I know raid attunement is a double-edged sword, but I did enjoy the challenge – mainly because I got to do it with friends. Which brings me to the main reason I liked Karazhan so much – the friends and guildies that I got to run it with. I always looked forward to raiding not because I might get loot or down a new boss, but because the people I ran it with made it a very enjoyable time for me!

(Although our tank had this crazy notion of doing difficult pulls of packs of undead by gathering them all up and AoEing!)

So for my week 2 submission for my favourite raid I had a bit of trouble deciding on one. I’ve been playing since WoW has released so I’ve experienced every raid that’s been out, so I had to take some time and think about each one and which I had the fondest memories of. After some thought, I narrowed it down to only two: Kharazhan and Sunwell. Not only do I have my fondest memories during this time in WoW (the Burning Crusade exspansion) from both content and the people I played with then, but both of these raids were long, interesting, fun, and beautiful in design. If I had to choose just one of those raids, well I can’t haha, but I would say Kharazhan for overall fun, and Sunwell for overall beauty and lore.

 Hello Molsan and Sláinte! It’s Grimm writing in with my 30 days of WoW. I’m gonna cheat and backdate this first email to include week one, so:

My first toon was a Tuaren feral druid named Sala (after the Indiana Jones character) on Korialstrasz. I started playing in december of 2006, right before the launce of BC, and didn’t know feral was not a viable spec. I just liked turning into a cat and stealthing past everything. I was on Korial for 3 years until all the friends I had been playing with had finally stopped playing, and I wanted to go somewhere that I know people would be on even at my late hours, so I transferred to Earthen Ring to join AIE. Sala was taken, and being terrible at selecting names the best thing I could come up with was Rowlf (like the Muppet). That lasted a few months until I got sick of it and decided to come up with something that I could work into any character to make naming easier, and thus Grimmclaw was born. So yes, original toon played since vanilla.

As to my favorite raid, although I love the design, look and feel of Ulduar, I have the best memories from ICC, when Floor Tanks made it through to defeat the Lich King. We may not have been cutting edge, but it was the first time I ever killed an end of expansion boss while it was current content, and by the end of ICC that team had a great chemistry.

I’m a little late getting caught up on my podcast listening and I just listened to ep 20. You guys were talking about having trouble keying your PTT on vent or mumble when things get real busy. I’m sure you have received many suggestions by now on this issue but, I just wanted to give my suggestion about that. i use the grave(~) key as my PTT key. It is positioned just right in my opinion. As my hand rests on my keyboard during raiding I can reach that key with my little finger from just about any place on the keyboard.

Players will instead be asked to create and turn in  Lovely Charm Bracelets. These bracelets can be created by obtaining a  Lovely Charm Collector’s Kit, which you can get from Kwee Q. Peddlefeet located near the Crown Chemical Co.’s camp, found outside of auction houses in each of the major cities.
  • Once you have obtained this item, you will then be able to gather  Lovely Charms from “worthwhile enemies”–any enemy you kill that is “honorable” (green or higher difficulty) has a chance to create a  Lovely Charm. At this time, you must land the killing blow on the enemy in order to gain a charm. Combining 10  Lovely Charms will create a single Lovely Charm Bracelet, which, upon accepting a daily quest, can be turned in to the faction leader of your choice. You can turn in each of the four faction leader daily quests once per day.
  • These bracelets provide a grindable source of Love Tokens, which is the currency for buying most of the items you will need for achievements, as well as 40 tokens for a permanent Peddlefeet.

• In addition, we’re making a change to ensure that there are some gear rewards available via the Kirin Tor Offensive and Sunreaver Onslaught, the two new factions with which players can earn reputation in 5.2 without raiding. The patch was shaping up to be a real challenge for players who don’t like raiding (including LFR), as our original design meant that no new Valor rewards would be available to them without needing to run Throne of Thunder. You can expect to see the Valor rewards on the Kirin Tor Offensive and Sunreaver Onslaught quartermasters updated on the 5.2 public test realms in the near future. Hey, just listened to episode 16 and 17. figured molsen felt like the tank should be geared first and I totally agree.

But Your plan for the gearing is not optimized so after giving it a fast thought I came up with a easy suggestion.

you would need the best gear on all Your 10 level 80s.

hopefully you are not stacking a class so just split up the group in half, 5 80s with diffrent needs of loot and the other half bring their level 90 and boosts you though it all for gear.

(like at freya you leave the 80s at the middle circle, run inn with the 5 90s and zerg her and out. if you run by water with strider you can manage to pull like zero adds)

after the run is Complete, you swap. the next group of 80s and the 5 90s.

Lately Ive been doing ulduar 10 for the proto drake Mount, we was a monk winder Walker 90 and a hunter 90 survival 90. struggeled only with yogg  +1 guardian =)

I dont know if it tracks flasks or you allready know but cata flasks only require leve 80 =) as the MoP flasks require level 85 (great for leveling)

 Borgaz was such a great man. I first met him when he joined our old raid team Floor Tanks in Wrath. He was this amazing hunter that completely tied our team together, always knew what to do, always had what you needed, and always always always gave the shirt off his back to anyone who asked for a spare button, and refused any compensation. We were shocked as a team when we found out he had only been playing the game for less than a year and had never raided when he joined the team, because he played like he’d played the game from day one.

We always got a huge chuckle out of the way he would often mispronounce the names of things in WoW. Those of us from that team still call Orgrimmar, “Orjimmer”

Borgaz was with me for the final handful of group quests I needed in Wrath to get my Loremaster title. He spent a good hour with me going all over Icecrown to get it done, and was just thrilled that he got to be a part of me getting the achievement. To this day that night was one of my favorite times of the 7 years I’ve played this game.

Of anyone I’ve ever met in this game, Borgaz was to me the ultimate example of class and kindness. If there was ever a person in AIE who deserved to be Guildie of the Moment, it was him. I’m going to miss him greatly. I’m sending all my well-wishes, prayers, and love to his family. If they are anything like him, they are great, great people.

I’m a BC baby, new to the podcast community and your show is on my short list of favorites.  You manage to provide excellent information whilst remaining topical and entertaining.  It’s almost tempted me to join the Bitter and Salty guild.  I’ve more than tripled my gold earning capacity since listening and I feel I’ve become a more savvy money manager, so thanks for that.

One question though:  Though there are many items that fluctuate wildly in price throughout an expansion (mats, transmog items, etc.) are there any items that maintain a fairly stable value throughout and are therefore worth relying on for a consistent profit?  There is a seller on my server who farms Scritch for the Hozen Peace Pipes and always lists them for 5k.  I routinely snatch them up and list them for 8-10k and they have always sold–not immediately, but I’ve learned to be patient.  Will the market be renewed with new factions, or did the commendations hurt the market irreparably?  What about craftable pvp items and epics going forward?  It seems like there is a steady influx of new players and alts leveling, even though the main “new expansion rush” is over.

  • Challenge Modes are a new feature in Mists of Pandaria that allows coordinated 5-player groups to jump into Heroic dungeons and attempt to set time-trial records. These blindingly fast times are displayed for all to see, but if being famous on the interwebz wasn’t enough, the groups who can achieve gold medals are also awarded with unique gear looks for use in Transmogrification—with a twist. These gear sets behave like nothing you’ve seen in the game before, activating and reacting to their wearer’s combat actions.

• Windsong and Elemental Force Information

  • Recent hotfix to both the Windsong and Elemental Force enchants to improve their performance.
  • Windsong is a weapon enchant that will “sometimes increase your critical strike, haste, or mastery by 1,500 for 12 sec when dealing damage with spells and melee attacks. Requires a level 372 or higher item.”
  • Blizzard community manager Daxxarri now claims that Windsong is now a useful enchant for all classes and specs (save Hunters who use scopes and Death Knights who use Runeforging) since it will trigger on all damage or healing, be it spell, melee, or ranged, and direct or periodic. Elemental Force will also trigger from all damage, so is useful for all damage dealers.
  • To create the enchant, you’ll need 12 Spirit Dust (2.5g ea) and 1 Ethereal Shard (30g), a total of 60g.
  • Currently selling for about 150g
